Benefits of Technology

Microstructures

Microstructures

CudoForm stamps microstructures, like grooves, pockets, and cavities, that accurately locate components in optical assemblies, including optical fibers, refractive lenses, and filters.

Reflective Optics

Reflective Optics

CudoForm stamps reflective optics with mirror finishes in highly-reflective aluminum. Aspherical mirrors redirect and reshape light beams in optical assemblies. Mirrors are accurately aligned with other stamped microstructures.

Metals

Metals

Metal components offer mechanical benefits like lower thermal expansion, greater strength and stiffness, and less wear. They enable joining processes like laser welding and soldering. They can be used in hermetic assemblies.

Unprecedented Accuracy

Unprecedented Accuracy

CudoForm achieves unprecedented accuracy by maximizing repeatability in the process and compensating for systematic errors, including elastic spring-back in the workpiece material and elastic deformation of the tooling during stamping.

Your Experienced Partner For Innovative Solutions

As the vanguard of science and engineering in stamping, we partner with customers and invent, manufacture, and commercialize products manufactured with our proprietary technology.

Product Design

CudoForm develops novel products that improve performance in customer products and that benefit industry and society. CudoForm has extensive experience in product modeling, analysis, and optimization methods for opto-mechanical designs and precision engineered components.

Process Design

CudoForm designs novel stamping processes, guided by precision engineering principles, that achieve unprecedented accuracy and optical quality. Although the processes remain proprietary, the processes can benefit your products by the precision and accuracy of our stamped components.

Metrology

CudoForm assures quality in tooling, stamped components, and optical assemblies using world-class equipment and expertise in dimensional and surface metrology. This capability is used to confirm the quality of tooling prior to production and to confirm the quality of stamped components in production.

Materials and Surfaces

CudoForm uses material testing, metallography, and tribology to understand the properties of workpiece materials, tooling, and their interaction at surfaces. This is essential data for designing and optimizing stamping processes.

Tooling

CudoForm manufactures world-leading hard tools for stamping processes. The dimensional tolerances routinely exceed 500 nm, and the surface finishes can be better than 5 nm Ra. These stringent tolerances are necessary for optical applications.

Validation and Verification

CudoForm conducts dimensional metrology, opto-mechanical tests, and reliability tests to validate product specifications and to verify product performance. Our environmental test chambers are available for product testing.

Process Control

CudoForm uses data analytics derived from big-data and real-time streaming architectures to monitor stamping processes in-situ and detect deviations from standard process conditions. These have been tested and demonstrated in real-time progressive stamping applications and are available for high-volume applications.
